Monthly Senior Center Performance

June  2019 - Jan 2020

In June 2019, Katherine took the initiative to organize and host a youth talent performance at La  Jolla Atria Senior Living. Themed around the dragon boat festival, the event showcased  piano, violin, pipa, singing, dance, model show,  and martial arts.

Encouraged by the enthusiastic response, Katherine teamed up with Ruby to turn the talent show a monthly performance. By the end of 2019, the duo decided to  establish a student club "Project Butterfly" in  reference to the butterfly effect.

Monthly in person performance was terminated early 2020 due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Online English Tutoring

Sept 2018 - Dec 2020

Katherine Ge taught spoken English class to her 26 Chinese students at YuCai middle school.

Since 2018, she has volunteered to teach spoken English to students in Sichuan, China, through a program organized by the WuWei Harmony Foundation. Additionally, she actively recruited five student volunteers from Atria Senior Living's monthly performances to participate in the tutoring program.

After the tutoring program concluded at the end of 2020, Katherine was inspired to establish a new tutoring program within the Project Butterfly club. The 5 experienced student tutors became the earliest tutor team of project butterfly ESL tutoring program.
